PV Sindhu suffered a crushing defeat in the first round, her title dream shattered

Indian badminton star PV Sindhu had to face defeat in the All England Badminton Championship. She played well in the first game, but after that, she could not stand against the Korean player.

India's star player and two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu had to exit the tournament with a defeat in three games despite winning the first game against Korea's Kim Ga Eun in the first round of the All England Badminton Championship. However, there was good news for India in the women's doubles where Commonwealth Games bronze medalist pair Trisha Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand defeated Chinese Taipei's Shuo Yun Sung and Chien Hui Yu 21-17, 21-13 to make it to the last-16.

29-year-old PV Sindhu, who was making a comeback after a leg muscle injury, lost 21-19, 13-21, 13-21 to world number 21 Kim in a match that lasted a little over an hour at Arena Birmingham. Sindhu had earlier won the only match against Kim at the Hong Kong Open in 2019. This is another disappointing result for Sindhu. After exiting the quarterfinals of the India Open Super 750 in January, she also failed to advance beyond the first round of the Indonesia Masters in the same month.

PV Sindhu played this match with tape tied on her right leg. She was in a very strong position by taking a 20-12 lead in the first game. But after this, she gave Kim a chance to make a comeback, who made the score 19-20. However, the Indian player won the first game by scoring important points. Kim had gained momentum at the end of the first game and then did not give any chance to Sindhu. The Korean player took a 4-1 lead in the second game and went ahead 7-2 with a cross-court smash. Taking advantage of Kim's mistakes, Sindhu made the score 6-9, but the Korean player won the 42-shot rally and remained ahead 11-9 till the break.

Kim then pushed Sindhu on the backfoot and took a 17-12 lead with a powerful cross-court smash. Sindhu made a mistake in service, giving Kim seven game points and then giving the Korean player a chance to level the match 1-1 by hitting a shot on the net. In the third and crucial game, Kim started fast and took a 7-2 lead but Sindhu made the score 7-9. Kim was ahead 11-7 till the break. The Indian player then hit several shots on and off the net, giving Kim a 17-11 lead. The Korean player scored eight match points with a drop shot and a forehand cross. Sindhu saved one point, but then lost the match by hitting a shot on the net.
